JULIA BROWNE

Founder /Owner

Julia Browne, a passionate advocate and supporter of emerging and independent fashion designers, brings over two decades of experience in the creative industries to the Melbourne Fashion Hub program. Julia is qualified in Entrepreneurship and New Business and is an Industry Member for the textile, clothing, and footwear industries for Skills Insight – Jobs and Skills Council.

Julia’s career highlights include being a professional dancer, touring with MTV Europe, and working in press and promotions for some of London’s top PR and music industry labels (most notably, Acid Jazz Records, Exposure PR, and Universal Music).

After relocating to Australia, Julia thrived in the creative realm, working in event management and public programs at prestigious institutions like the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI), Madman Entertainment, and the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV).

She founded Style Shifter Media, an innovative platform offering styling advice, local fashion news, and an extensive calendar of upcoming Melbourne student runway shows.

Under Julia’s leadership as the founder, the Melbourne Fashion Hub achieved notable recognition in 2022 as one of the four finalists in the Arts & Events category at the esteemed ‘Melbourne Awards,’ organised by the City of Melbourne. These awards honour inspirational individuals who make extraordinary contributions to the community, pioneering their fields, fostering positive change, building inclusive communities, and positioning Melbourne as a global leader.


For three consecutive years, Julia has partnered with Melbourne Fashion Week (MFW) Student Runway and has been a judge for the International Artsthread Global Creative Graduate Showcase.

As the driving force behind the Melbourne Fashion Hub, Julia manages and delivers the program while simultaneously creating a distinct and engaging space for emerging fashion talent within the local fashion community. Her deep understanding of artists’ struggles and her unwavering passion for supporting the creative community fuels her dedication to making a meaningful difference.
