How to Apply
Ready to take your next step? Here’s everything you need to know about applying for the Melbourne Fashion Hub program.
How to Enter
Before applying, please download the submission document and application form via the links at the bottom of this page. Read the submission document carefully first, as it contains everything you need to know before completing your application. You’ll be asked to share a statement about your practice, a bio, and images of your work, along with your name, contact details, and fashion institution. Please make sure you address the selection criteria and include supporting materials that help us get a clear picture of your work and vision.
Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Shortlist
If you make the shortlist, you may be invited to meet founder Julia Browne and our judging panel for a brief and informal conversation. If this happens, we encourage you to bring samples and your portfolio along.
Panel Selection
Julia Browne and our industry panel will select 12 designers to join the program. All applicants will be notified of the outcome once the final selection has been made.
Program Fee
The Melbourne Fashion Hub program is $795 per participant. Payment details are provided in the application form. Designers retain 100% of their garment sales at the pop-up event.
TERMS OF ENTRY: Applicants should be Melbourne-based.
Are You Eligible?
Applications are open to current Victorian fashion design students at any study level, and recent graduates who completed their studies within the last five years. To be considered, you’ll need to :
- Committed to and have the ability to see the program through to completion
- Actively promote the program through your own media channels if accepted
- Have the resources to create a 4 to 6 piece collection to sell at the pop-up, or samples available for pre-order
- Be available to showcase and sell your work over three consecutive days at our pop-up retail event (Friday to Sunday) upon program completion
- Be responsible for supplying your own merchandising resources for the retail space, dependent on the venue infrastructure.
Key Selection Criteria
- Responsible Fashion Knowledge: demonstrate an understanding of sustainable and ethical fashion principles.
- Innovative Design: A distinct point of view and vision within your area of specialisation.
- Professionalism: A high quality submission that reflects your ability to present yourself and your practice with confidence.
- Collaboration and Teamwork: The ability to work positively and productively within a team setting.
All online submissions will be reviewed, and applicants will be informed of the outcome.
