1. What is the Melbourne Fashion Hub Pre-Accelerator Program?

Answer: The Melbourne Fashion Hub Pre-Accelerator Program is a free initiative to support Melbourne fashion design students and recent graduates. With the knowledge and skills needed to kickstart their fashion careers and make them industry-ready 

2. Who is eligible to apply for the program?

Answer: The program is open to fashion design students currently enrolled in Melbourne-based institutions and recent graduates who have completed their studies within the last five years.

3. What does the program cover?

Answer: The program covers various topics, including business planning, brand and pricing strategies, digital presence, and customer experience. It includes industry talks, the annual pop-up event, one-on-one mentoring sessions, and networking opportunities with industry professionals.

4. How long is the program?

Answer: The program runs annually for 6-8 weeks (predominantly online), combining weekly mentoring sessions and hands-on activities. Participants will work on their marketing and collections for a few months and be ready for the pop-up event in March.

5. Is there a fee to participate in the program?

Answer: No, the program is entirely free for all accepted participants. Our core values are access and equity, as EVERYONE should have access to the program regardless of their financial situation.

6. How do I apply for the program?

Answer: Interested applicants can apply through our website by filling out the application form, submitting required documents, such as a portfolio, and answering the selection criteria.

7. What is the selection process like?

Answer: Applications are reviewed by a panel of industry experts. Shortlisted candidates may be invited for an interview, after which the final selection will be made based on the applicant’s potential, creativity, responses to the key selection criteria, and commitment to building a career in the fashion business.

8. What kind of support can participants expect to receive?

Answer: Participants will receive comprehensive support, including business coaching, access to industry professionals, opportunities to showcase their work, and personalised mentorship tailored to their business needs.

9. Do I need to have a business idea to apply?

Answer: While having a business idea is beneficial, it is not mandatory. The program is designed to help you develop and refine your business concept or identify what career you want within the industry, so enthusiasm and passion are the most important criteria.

10. What happens after the program ends?

Answer: Upon completing the program, participants will have a solid business foundation, a network of industry contacts, and key skills needed within the fashion business. Ongoing support is available via one-to-one our fashion business consultancy service and resources.

11. Can I apply if I am working full-time or part-time?

Answer: Yes, the program is designed to accommodate the schedules of full-time and part-time workers and students. Most activities will be scheduled in the evenings and on weekends.

12. How will this program benefit my fashion career?

Answer: The program will equip you with the business acumen and practical skills to navigate the fashion industry. It will also provide valuable networking opportunities and exposure to industry professionals, enhancing your career prospects and entrepreneurial success.

13. Will there be opportunities to showcase my work?

Answer: Participants will have opportunities to showcase their work through the  Melbourne Fashion Hub pop-up store in March.

14. Who are the mentors and speakers in the program?

Answer: The mentors and speakers are experienced fashion industry professionals, successful entrepreneurs, and business experts who bring knowledge and insights to help guide you through the program.

15. Can I reapply if I am not selected this time?

Answer: Absolutely. We encourage applicants not selected to reapply for future cohorts and continue developing their skills and business ideas.
