CLOSING DATE: 26 JULY 2024
Submissions are now closed for the program, which will commence at the end of September 2024 and be followed by the retail pop-up showcase in March 2025.
HOW TO ENTER
Download and read the submission details, and fill in the application form (link at the bottom of the page). You will be asked to submit a statement about your practice, bio, and work images along with your name, contact, and fashion institution details. Please address the selection criteria and include supporting materials to help us visualise your work.
Incomplete applications will not be considered.
SHORTLIST
If you have been shortlisted, you may be invited to meet Julia Browne and the judging panel for a brief and informal interview. Should this meeting occur, you are encouraged to bring samples and your portfolio.
PANEL SELECTION
Julia Browne and our industry panel will choose 12 winning clothing designers. Once the final selection is made, designers will be notified.
TERMS OF ENTRY: Applicants should be Melbourne-based.
Eligibility
Applications accepted from current Victorian Fashion Design students (at any study level) and recent graduates (graduated within the last five years) who are:
- Committed to and have the ability to see the program through to completion.
- If accepted, agree to promote the program through their media channels actively.
- Have the resources to create a 4-6 piece collection to sell at the pop-up or samples to sell from for pre-order.
- Be available to showcase and sell their work in a group setting in a retail space pop-up over three consecutive days upon program completion (Friday – Sunday.)
- They will be responsible for supplying resources for merchandising their work in the retail pop-up space (dependent on the retail venue infrastructure).
Key Selection Criteria
- Responsible Fashion Knowledge: demonstrate an understanding of sustainable and ethical fashion principles.
- Innovative Design: Demonstrate a distinct point of view and vision within your area/s of specialisation.
- Professionalism: Provide a high-quality submission that conveys your level of professionalism and your current ability to promote yourself and your practice.
- Collaboration and Teamwork: Demonstrate your ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
All online submissions will be reviewed, and applicants will be informed of the outcome.
